COMPLETED YOUR SEFER?

MAZAL TOV! LET’S PLAN A SIYUM.

What is a Siyum?
In Judaism, a siyum (Hebrew: סיום, "completion") is a celebration marking the completion of a unit of Torah study, most commonly a section of the Talmud or Mishnah. It's a festive event where individuals or groups gather to commemorate their achievement and give thanks for the ability to study.

For men, a siyum often includes:

  • Final learning: The very last words of the text being studied are often left unlearned until the siyum itself, then learned together.

  • Hadran prayer: A special prayer (Hadran) is recited, expressing the completion of the text and the desire to return to it for further study.

  • Kaddish: If a minyan (quorum of ten men) is present, a special Kaddish is recited.

  • Festive meal: A celebratory meal, often featuring meat (depending on the occasion and timing), is part of the celebration.

A different type of l’chaim!

Pro tips:

  • Buy all flavors of kosher boba (currently made by Minute Mix)

  • In separate open jars or bowls, put out each type of boba

  • Prepare a pitcher of strawberry milk (almond milk for a non-dairy option).

  • Prepare a pitcher of ice tea. (Snapple has great options.)

  • Prepare a tart lemonade.

  • Prepare small bowls or shot glasses of vanilla ice cream. It’s okay for the ice cream to melt, as long as it doesn’t become too warm.

  • Place all of the above items near each other for people to mix and match their drinks of choice.

  • Include cups. The boba beads will need extra fat straws. Don’t skip the straws, they’re a big part of the experience!

Dessert - Boba Bar

A Grand Finale: Rice Krispie “Cake” Bar

Pro Tips:

Think beyond squares — make large-format Rice Krispie “cakes” in springform pans, loaf pans, or even tiered molds.

  • Create multiple flavors with distinct toppings, and display them like a selection of elegant layer cakes. Try:

    • Classic vanilla with a marshmallow glaze and gold sprinkles

    • Double chocolate with a dark ganache drip

    • Fruity Pebbles with white chocolate drizzle and edible flowers

    • Cookies & Cream with crushed Oreos and a whipped topping swirl

    • Salted peanut butter with caramel ribbons

  • Slice each “cake” into wedges or elegant bars and serve on cake stands or marble boards for a high-end dessert display.

  • For a visual wow: torch the tops lightly for a brûléed finish, or stack mini "cakes" into a centerpiece tower.

  • Provide sharp cake knives and dessert forks for a plated dessert experience — or wooden picks for a more casual setup.

  • Add signage or a small frame:

“Celebrate the sweetness of learning Torah — one slice at a time.”
